Another first for King Charles and Queen Camilla as the Coronation countdown continues

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla has attracted much debate around ‘slimming down’ and modernisation of this ancient ceremony but there is one way in which the event has been brought right into the 21st century and made history with it. King Charles III’s Coronation is the first to have its own website.

The official page for the ceremony has a rather regal sounding address – coronation.gov.uk.

As King Charles and Queen Camilla reach the three month countdown to the Coronation, the brand new site remains in beta but is already showcasing the many events that will celebrate the crowning moment of a brand new reign.

As of February 6th 2023, that all important three months to go moment, the Coronation website has information about the ceremony as well as more details on the celebrations that will take place across Coronation weekend including the Coronation Big Lunch, the Big Help Out and the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.

Also featured is an interactive map where people can add their own Coronation events to give a full picture of how celebrations will take place around the UK.

The site is run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6th 2023. The Coronation weekend runs from May 6th until May 8th 2023.

And, of course, there will be full details and lots of Coronation articles on Royal Central. Our special coverage and build up launches soon.
