Princess Anne continues royal support for NHS staff

Princess Anne, Princess Royal

The Princess Royal has visited Scarborough Hospital to show royal appreciation for the work of NHS staff throughout the many challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Princess Anne visited the hospital, in North Yorkshire, on October 19th 2020 as reports that the region it’s situated in might face further restrictions caused by the spread of the virus.

The Princess spoke to staff across hospital departments about the issues they have faced in the past nine months to hear about their experiences and to thank them for their work.

Anne spent time with doctors and nurses working on Covid-19 wards as well as in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital to hear about the challenges that the ongoing pandemic presents to them. The Princess also heard from pharmacists as well as support staff who are working to keep the hospital going and met patients.

There was also a focus on the hospital’s treatment of other conditions. The Princess Royal officially opened the new Eye Unit at Scarborough.

The Royal Family has spent time at hospitals across the country in recent months as well as taking part in video and phone calls to show their support for the work done by the NHS during the pandemic.
