Prince William reschedules his diary to support Catherine following major surgery

The Prince of Wales is to reschedule his diary following on from the major abdominal surgery undergone by the Princess of Wales.

Catherine was successfully operated on at The London Clinic on Tuesday for planned surgery.

However, there is a lengthy recovery time for the Princess, who will now spend up-to 14 days in hospital, before resting at home in Windsor.

The 42-year-old royal has cancelled her upcoming public duties, and is unlikely to return to work until after Easter.

In order to support his wife and their three children, Prince William is to reschedule many of his upcoming engagements.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that the Princess desires to “maintain as much normality for her children as possible” during her recovery.

It was widely expected that both the Prince & Princess would visit Italy in March, however, this will now no longer go ahead in light of the surgery.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has had to postpone her upcoming engagements.”

They added that she “looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

The Princess has expressed her wish that her medical details remain private, although it is understood that her operation is not related to cancer.

Kensington Palace will only issue a further update in the event of there being significant new information to share.
