The King has celebrated a major milestone in Scottish history and has shared what the “special” nation means to him and the Royal Family.
Embed from Getty ImagesKing Charles was in Edinburgh on Saturday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament which was officially opened on 1 July 1999. At a ceremony in Parliament, he shared just how important Scotland is to him.
His Majesty said ”speaking from a personal perspective, Scotland has always had a uniquely special place in the hearts of my family and myself… We are all, at the end of each day, united by our love of Scotland… because of its strength of character, based as it is on the extraordinary diversity of its peoples, whose range of ideas, skills, energy, passions, and frequently deeply-held beliefs, never cease to inspire me.”
Embed from Getty ImagesThe King and Queen are currently at Balmoral for the Royal Family’s annual trip. King Charles attended school in Scotland, and spent many of his childhood holiday’s with the Queen Mother’s Scottish family.
Embed from Getty ImagesAs an adult, he has spent considerable time in Scotland largely focusing on traditional farming and land practices. He also opened several philanthropic projects in Scotland, including Dumfries House.
His Majesty has visited Holyrood six times in its 25 year history.
