Duke and Duchess of Westminster welcome baby girl – and reveal her name

The Duke and Duchess of Westminster have become parents for the first time, welcoming a daughter named Cosima Florence Grosvenor.

The baby was born on July 27 in London, with a spokesperson for the couple saying were “thrilled”.

The spokesperson added: “They are now looking forward to spending this special time together as a family.”

The arrival of baby Cosima marks the next chapter for one of Britain’s most prominent aristocratic families.

The Duke of Westminster, 34, is godfather to Prince George and a close friend of the Prince of Wales. He was a key guest at the coronation of King Charles III and is considered part of the royal inner circle, regularly attending major family occasions.

The Duchess, formerly Olivia Henson, married the Duke in a grand ceremony at Chester Cathedral last year  an event attended by members of the Royal Family, including Prince William, who served as an usher.

The wedding drew hundreds of well-wishers and widespread media attention, cementing the couple’s profile as a new generation of British nobility.

The Duke, Hugh Grosvenor, inherited the title upon the death of his father in 2016, becoming the 7th Duke of Westminster and one of Britain’s wealthiest landowners. The Grosvenor family’s property empire spans central London and beyond, with a legacy that stretches back to the 17th century.

While baby Cosima will not carry a title herself, she will be embroiled in noble circles. Her arrival adds a new branch to one of Britain’s most historic dynasties and comes at a time of growing interest in the younger generation of aristocratic families closely tied to the monarchy.

Further details about the birth, including the hospital and any additional family visitors, have not been made public. The couple are expected to spend the coming weeks in private as they adjust to life as new parents.
