While the world waits for both Princess Madeleine of Sweden and the Duchess of Cambridge to give birth in a couple of months, a new royal baby has just been born in the Moroccan Royal Family.
His Highness Prince Moulay Ismail of Morocco and his wife Lalla Anissa Lehmkuhl welcomed a baby girl, their fourth child, on Saturday, 3 February in Paris, France. Both the mother and child are said to be doing well.
Information regarding the child’s length, weight and time of birth have not been revealed.
A friend of the 36-year-old Prince, the Kuwaiti composer Musab al-Anzi, announced the news on his social media and congratulated the family on their new edition.
Prince Moulay Ismail is the cousin of King Mohammed VI and the son of the late Prince Moulay Abdallah – a brother to Mohammed’s late father King Hassan.
The Prince married Anissa Lehmkuhl, whose parents were Germans who had converted to Islam, on 25 September 2009 at the Royal Palace. The couple has three older children, one son and two daughters: Sharif Moulay Abdallah (b. 2010), Sharifa Lalla Aisha (b. 2011) and Sharifa Lalla Hala (b. 2013).
The baby girl’s name has not yet been announced.
Yesterday, Moroccan pop singer Saad Lamjarred posted an image to his official Instagram of the Prince holding his four-day-old daughter.
Other extended members of the Moroccan Royal Family have issued their congratulations on social media. The King has not, as of yet, made any public statements about his cousin’s new child.
More royal babies are on the way soon. Princess Madeleine of Sweden is due to give birth to her and her husband, Christopher O’Neill’s third child next month. A month later in April, the Duchess of Cambridge is expected to give birth to her and the Duke of Cambridge’s third child.
