Crown Prince Frederik helps with preparation for 2021 Royal Run

On Thursday, the Danish Royal House published a picture of Crown Prince Frederik preparing for the Royal Run on their Instagram account.

The Royal Run is an initiative created by the Crown Prince to encourage people of all ages to get moving and exercise while also exploring parts of the country. It stretches for 10 kilometres and in this 2021 edition will go through Aalborg, Sønderborg, Odense, Copenhagen/Frederiksberg and Rønne.

The Royal Run this year will take place on the 12th of September, and the registrations are still open for anyone who wishes to take part. The Run will not be a competition, and every person that takes part in it will receive a medal at the end.

And medals were exactly what His Royal Highness was looking at in yesterday’s visit. The Crown Prince toured the production and storage facility that has been put in charge of logistics for this year’s event and looked at the stock of medals, t-shirts, banners and markers that have been printed and are currently stored. The facility is located in Farum, a small town that, since 2006, is part of the municipality of Furesø.

During his visit, Crown Prince Frederik helped with printing posters and banners, as well as overseeing the storage of the medals for the more than 70 thousand participants currently signed up for the event.

The Royal Run was born as a way for the Crown Prince to celebrate his love of sports, and running in particular, in the year he celebrated his 50th birthday. Since then, it has been a key calendar date in the Danish royal sphere, and, with the 2020 edition having to be cancelled over fears for national health security, the 2021 Run promises to be a strong signal of a slow return to normal.
