Traditional photos released of Crown Princess Family of Sweden for National Day

The Crown Princess Family of Sweden has released their traditional National Day photos.

Three images taken by Linda Broström have been released showing Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Estelle in Sweden’s national costume, while Prince Daniel and Prince Oscar are in suits and ties.

The family visited Gripsholm Castle in Mariefred to mark the holiday celebrated annually on 6 June. The castle is deeply associated with King Gustav Vasa.

The photographs were taken inside and outside the castle; one photo shows Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar in front of a portrait of Gustav Eriksson Vasa – the founder of modern Sweden.

National Day this year is special as the country marks 500 years of modern Sweden since Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden in 1523. This ended the Kalmar Union, which had Denmark, Norway and Sweden under one monarchy.

Since Princess Estelle was a baby, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have released an image or images of Princess Estelle, and later Prince Oscar, in celebration of Sweden’s special holiday.
