Swedes express concern for King Carl Gustaf during Nobel banquet

Swedes have expressed concern for their King after seeing him at the Nobel Prize banquet in Stockholm.

The Swedish people took to social media to express concern after King Carl XVI Gustaf gave a speech at the traditional Nobel banquet that was back to its usual splendour after a two-year hiatus due to the global health crisis.

Although he looked rather healthy, the King’s voice was rather hoarse during his speech, leading many to question his health and their hopes that he is alright.

Some asked, “How is he?” Another said: “How is the King? Hoarse voice.”

Crown Princess Victoria had a cold earlier in the week and cancelled events in order to get healthy. She was able to attend the Nobel events after taking time to get well throughout the week.

According to Swedish magazine, Svenskdam, Queen Silvia wore a mask out to an event on 9 December; they reached out to the Royal Court for comment but did not receive a reply.

The Royal Court has not commented on the King’s health on Saturday evening as of the time this post was written.
