During a cabinet meeting held at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on Wednesday afternoon, King Carl XVI Gustaf announced to the Government the baby's name chosen by the new parents, and the royal title the fifth in line will be known as.
"At the cabinet meeting, The King informed the Government that the Princess will be named Leonore Lilian Maria, with the given name Leonore. The Princess was assigned duchess of Gotland," a statement on the Swedish Royal Family's website explains.
Over the weekend, the King and Queen Silvia of Sweden flew to New York to see their new baby granddaughter, who was born to Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill on Thursday night.
The grandparents met the latest addition to the family, who is fifth-in-line to the Swedish throne, after the parents returned home from the hospital.
On Sunday, the Princess and her American banker husband shared the first photo of their baby daughter.

The proud parents posted a photo on the official Facebook page for the Swedish Royal Family with the adorable image showing the beaming parents holding their daughter in a car seat.
“Princess Madeleine and Mr. O’Neill leave the hospital with their daughter,” a caption said.
On Thursday night the Princess gave birth to the couple’s first child in New York, where she and Chris currently reside.
“The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announced that H.R.H Princess Madeleine gave birth to a daughter on February 20, 2014 at 10.41pm local time New York,” a statement read.
“Both mother and child are in good health.”
The birth was celebrated across Sweden with a 21-gun salute in Stockhom, Boden, Harnosand, and various other locations in the country.
Princess Madeleine and American-banker Chris announced their engagement in October 2012, and the couple married in a stunning ceremony in June 2013.
Royalty from around the world attended including The Earl and Countess of Wessex who represented Britain, Denmark’s Prince Frederik and Princess Mary, and Prince Pavlos and Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece.
