Last night, a tribute concert for charity was held in Stockholm in memory of the late Swedish DJ, Avicii, and Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden were in attendance at Friends Arena.
Proceeds from the concert will go to supporting mental health awareness.
The concert included performances by Aloe Blacc, Adam Lambert, Belgian DJ Dimitri Vegas, 30-strong live band, France’s David Guetta, and Rita Ora.
Many unreleased songs by Avicii were performed for the very first time on Thursday night.
Avicii’s father Klas Bergling, who helped organise the concert with the Tim Berling Foundation, said in a statement about the event, “We are grateful that his friends, artists and musicians with whom he worked during his career have come to Stockholm to help us realise this tribute concert.”
Avicii, who was born Tim Bergling, died in Oman at the age of 28 in April 2018. His family said he was under a lot of stress and was a perfectionist who “could not go on any longer.”
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia had a good relationship with Avicii, and he performed during their 2015 wedding reception.
After the announcement of his death, the couple released a statement saying, “We are grateful that we got to know him. He made our wedding unforgettable with his amazing music.”
Head of the Information at the Royal Court, Margareta Thorgren, recently told Expressen, “They had a nice and good relationship.”
