King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has been discharged from hospital after his heart surgery.
The King’s doctor, Viveka Frykman Kull, told Swedish news Expressen, “He has been allowed to come home; he is doing well.”
His Majesty will take it easy and recover for 14 days, but his doctor stressed that everything had “gone very well.”
The Royal Court’s Head of Information, Margareta Thorgren, confirmed that King Carl Gustaf is resting at Drottningholm Palace and was discharged on the evening of 22 February.
The 76-year-old King underwent a planned heart operation on 20 February that was described as a “surgical procedure with catheter technology in the heart area” by the Royal Court.
The surgery went as planned, and the King recovered in hospital for a few days before being allowed to return home.
His Majesty’s scheduled engagements from 20 February to 3 March have been postponed.
