Generation Pep works to spread knowledge and to inspire and support children, young people, parents and adults around youth issues across Sweden. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have been participating in the annual Pep Forum. The event, on November 10th 2021, was organized by Generation Pep in order to promote children and young people’s opportunities to live a healthy and wholesome life.
This year’s Pep Forum was arranged with the opportunity to participate digitally or physically on site at Quality Friends Hotel in Solna. In total, about 800 people from authorities, municipalities, regions, associations and businesses participated. Against the background of children and young people moving less and less, the participants talked about initiatives that can lead to healthier lives.
During the event, Her Royal Highness gave a speech. The Crown Princess said: “Sitting still did not start with the pandemic – and it does not end with the pandemic. Our children and young people need help to shut down the computer, put away their mobile phones and go out and move around. They need help with good diet and exercise habits. All that lays the foundation for a healthy life. If we as adults help them, Sweden will feel better. ”
Pep Forum was led by moderators Jessica Almenäs and Ulrika Hjalmarson Neidman. Carolina Klüft, operations manager at Generation Pep, and Magnus Jägerskog, general secretary at Bris, briefed the Forum on their respective organizations’ reports on how the pandemic affected children and young people’s health. “Fritidsbanken” presented their pandemic-adapted initiatives that have been implemented in the past year. The health expert and author Stephan Wilson as well as the doctor, epidemiologist and author Anders Wallenstam gave concrete advice on good eating habits, increased physical activity and the importance of an inner and personal motivation.
The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel are the initiators of Generation Pep, which was launched in 2016 together with Swedish companies, foundations and non-profit organizations. Generation Pep’s vision is that all children and young people in Sweden should have the opportunity and desire to live an active and healthy life.
