Crown Princess Katherine’s Foundation celebrates a special anniversary

Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia

For two decades, the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation has supported Serbia’s healthcare, social welfare, and education systems.

Special focus is given to raising awareness of the importance of breast cancer prevention with the provision of medical equipment, such as mammography machines, ultrasounds and a sequencer for testing cancer genes. During this period, over 145,000 women have been examined thanks to this mobile unit. This year the foundation celebrated 20 years of charity in Serbia.

More than 250 projects worth millions of euros have been implemented over the twenty years since the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade, but the first donation by Crown Princess Katherine was 28 years ago, in 1993. This was the donation of isolation rooms and sterile rooms for hematology patients in the Balkan nation.

In the last eighteen months, during the COVID-19 pandemic, projects worth several million Euros have been realized. Primarily, the focus of these projects was the procurement of medical supplies and medical equipment with the aim to protect doctors and nurses who are risking their lives to save the lives of others, but also ambulances and other necessary devices needed for health care.

The success of the foundation in the implementation of a large number of significant projects is down to the work of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who for many years has been dedicated to humanitarian work and providing help to those who need it most. Furthermore, the foundation brings together the most prominent representatives of the international community, as well as the Serbian diaspora, with only one goal, to help Serbia and its citizens.

The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade in September 2001 to continue and expand the tradition of the humanitarian work initiated in 1993 in London, when the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization was founded. Today, under the patronage of Crown Princess Katherine, Lifeline has offices in New York, Chicago, Toronto, London, and Athens. However, the centre of all activities is in the office of the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade, which has been active for over 20 years, upon the arrival of Their Royal Highnesses in Serbia.
