Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attend charity dinner in Athens

The humanitarian organization “Lifeline Greece”, whose patron is Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, organized a charity dinner in support of state hospital “Elena Venizelou” this week. The event was held in the presence of Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine. In addition Minister of Health of Greece, the Ambassador of Italy in Greece and the Rectors of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens attended the dinner.

Crown Prince Alexander addressed guests and thanked the Minister of Health, the Board of Directors, and all the friends of Lifeline for their great support and for putting on a successful event. The Minister of Health, Mr. Plevris, thanked Princess Katherine and Lifeline Hellas for their contribution to the state hospitals.

Dr. Iraklis Salvanos, Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the “Elena Venizelou” Hospital spoke about the importance of the donation that Lifeline provided, the expansion of the Neonatal Unit by six places, and expressed gratitude for the great help provided by Lifeline Hellas.

In addition, the Crown Princess gave a speech. The Greek-born Serbian Crown Princess said: “I send my gratitude to all those who supported this event and help the work of Lifeline Greece. I especially thank His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Plevris, for his support, which means the world to us, as well as to Mrs. Alexia Stella Mantzari of AS Marine, the golden sponsor of Lifeline, her family, and the Board of Directors of Lifeline who all made this possible. It is always important to help those who are in need. By providing support to “Elena Venizelou” state hospital you have made it possible for many lives to be saved and made a great difference for the wellbeing of others”.

In 1993, Crown Princess Katherine founded the Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation which currently has offices in Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens. This organisation, together with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, works to collect money for medical equipment that has been delivered to numerous hospitals in Serbia.
