Princess Charlene was ready to celebrate Monaco’s four-legged friends earlier this week with the launch of a new book, It’s a Dog’s Life Monaco.

The royal, who serves as President of the Monaco Society for the Protection of Animals, joined the book’s authors and members of the charity to launch the new portrait book, which features images of some of the principality’s many dogs, including several portraits of the Monegasque Princely Family’s pets.

Princess Charlene personally has three chihuahuas and a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Khan. Her dogs are very important to her, and have even accompanied her on royal duties. Earlier this summer, she brought one of her dogs to lunch with French First Lady Brigitte Macron.

In an interview on Carob Tree Publishing’s Instagram account, Jessica Fry, the author and photographer behind It’s a Dog’s Life Monaco shared that she thought “it would be a fun idea to do something with the community…something to do with dogs.”

She added: “Monaco is not all about fast cars and diamonds, and super yachts.”

Fry was also interviewed by Monaco Info and said “Everywhere you go in Monaco there are dogs, it is impossible to walk down the street and not see dogs.”

Princess Charlene was joined by Camille Gottlieb, her niece via Princess Stéphanie, and representatives from the Monaco Society for the Protection of Animals. All proceeds from the book will be donated to the charity.

The Prince’s Palace commented on its social media that It’s a Dog’s Life Monaco is “a beautiful and meaningful project — where love for animals meets human commitment.”
