Princess Benedikte of Denmark tests positive for Covid

Princess Benedikte of Denmark tested positive for CoViD-19, the Royal Household announced on the afternoon of Thursday, 17th February.

The Princess, sister to Queen Margarethe, “is displaying only mild symptoms”, according to the press release, and is isolating at Christian VIII Palace in Amalienborg.

The communication also states that Her Royal Highness is following all relevant guidelines from the Danish Government on health safety protocols.

This diagnosis comes only days after the Princess’s sister, Queen Margrethe, recovered from the infection herself.

Denmark has just lifted all restrictions, and now allows the public to lead mostly normal lives.

The last engagement undertaken by Princess Benedikte was on the 10th of February, when she visited the exhibition “Dannebrog. A Royal Yacht for 90 years”.

The day after the diagnosis, Her Royal Highness was supposed to attend the performance “From the life of earthworms”, a theatre piece going on scene at Folketeatre in Copenhagen, but the event was cancelled.
