Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett make debut royal appearance

Princess Martha Louise of Norway

As Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s official 18th birthday celebrations take place, a royal first is also taking place. The newly engaged couple Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett are among the guests and have made their first public appearance since announcing their plans to marry.

On June 16 2022, they joined other royals at the Norwegian government’s official dinner for the Princess. On June 17, they will be among the glittering guest list at the gala banquet being hosted by King Harald and Queen Sonja for their granddaughter.

It was the first time the newly engaged couple appeared together in Norway after their engagement. It was also the first official event Shaman Durek has attended as Princess Märtha Louise’s partner. The couple announced their engagement on June 7 2022.

Durek Verrett, wearing a tuxedo like the other men present, accompanied his fiancee to the modern Deichman library in central Oslo where the dinner was held. The couple arrived with Martha Louise’s aunt, Princess Astrid, who was using a wheelchair.

However, his more modern take on birthday celebrations were noted after he misspelled the name of his wife to be’s niece in an Instagram post. He used Alexandria, when it should actually be spelled Alexandra.

Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett confirmed their relationship in May 2019.
