Crown Prince Haakon given special recognition and a surprise award

Innovation and forward-looking entrepreneurship are something that strongly engages the Norwegian Crown Prince. Crown Prince Haakon has, among other things, expressed his enthusiasm through the for company MESH. On September 27th 2022, His Royal Highness attended the celebration of their 10th anniversary and they had a special and pleasant surprise.

MESH`s goal is to create the best startup HUBs, valuable recruiting and funding services and inspire networks to accelerate the Nordic start-up scene. With more than 3,800 members and over 100,000 annual users, they are one of the largest start-up communities in the Nordic region.

When MESH celebrated its anniversary, they declared that Crown Prince Haakon was being inducted into their own “Hall of Fame”. The Norwegian Crown Prince was number 17 in a series of pioneers who were given a place in the Mesh Hall of Fame. A modernist portrait painting was the gift to the Crown Prince as a diploma for his place in the hall of fame.

Crown Prince Haakon has previously said about innovation and those involved in it: “We all depend on you to make the necessary changes. This is the right time and place. We need the best minds with the best ideas and brave decision-makers to bring the planet back into balance. The generations before us did not have the knowledge, technology and opportunities that we have. We now know what is at stake.»

The British royals have also made contact with Norwegian MESH. in 2018, when the now Prince and Princess of Wales visited Norway, they visited the founding community MESH, together with Crown Princess Mette Marit and Crown Prince Haakon. Then the topic was joint ventures between Norwegian and British start-ups.
