Princely Palace shares new update on Princess Charlene’s health

The Princely Palace of Monaco has shared a new update on the health of Princess Charlene, just days after her 44th birthday.

The Palace shared that the Princess is still recovering, and things are going along encouragingly. However, her treatment, which includes rest and dental treatment, will continue for several more weeks.

They said that the “convalescence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene is currently continuing in a satisfying and very encouraging way.”

As she is still in a treatment facility outside Monaco, she was unable to attend the traditional Sainte Dévote events this year.

The Palace also said: “With her husband H.S.H. Prince Albert II, she shares her heart with all Monegasques and residents on the occasion of these celebrations. As soon as her health will allow, it will be with joy that the Princess once again share moments of conviviality with them.”

A request for privacy was again issued with the Palace, stating: “During this period, the Royal Couple requests that their private life and that of their children continue to be respected.”

Prince Albert attended the Sainte Dévote events with his and Charlene’s seven-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, and his older sister, Princess Caroline.

On the evening of 26 January, the family attended the ceremony where they set a sailboat on fire to celebrate Monaco’s patron saint, Dévote. They were also joined by Albert’s nephew, Princess Stephanie’s son, Louis Ducret, for the festivities.

The family attended Mass for Saint Dévote Day on 27 January.

Princess Charlene was grounded in South Africa last year for several months after a quick trip to her home country for conservation led to a months-long stay due to a severe ear, nose and throat infection that prevented her from flying. She returned to Monaco in November, but it was soon apparent that she was not well. She left for treatment of an unknown illness at an undisclosed location outside Monaco a few days later.
