Monaco gets ready for a new family arrival as Princess Stéphanie prepares to become a grandmother for the first time

Monaco just had the joy of seeing their first National Day being celebrated in an atmosphere of normality for three years, and now the Principality is ready to celebrate more happy news.

Princess Stéphanie is due to become a grandmother in the first half of 2023, following her son’s announcement that he and his wife are expecting their first child next year.

Louis Ducruet posted a picture on his Instagram that portrays him, his wife Marie and their dog with the caption “An adventure is about to begin”, followed by a red heart emoji. In the photograph, the couple’s dog is seen sporting a white bib with the writing “Soon to be a big brother”.

The couple got married on the 27th of July of 2019 in Monaco’s Our Lady Immaculate Cathedral (also known as St Nicholas Cathedral); the day before, the two tied the knot in a civil ceremony at Monaco town hall.

Marie Hoa Chevallier was born in Nice, France, on the 28th of December 1992, and has Vietnamese origins. She currently works as the head of marketing events and protocol for Monaco’s Societé Bains de Mer.

Louis Ducruet is Princess Stéphanie’s first child; he was born at Princess Grace Maternity in Monaco on the 26th of November 1992. He currently co-owns MONADECO with his father, Daniel Ducruet, and also works as an advisor for international projects for Nottingham Forest Football Club.

He and his sister Pauline also have a half-sister, Camille, from their mother’s relationship with Jean-Raymond Gottlieb, and two half-siblings on their father’s side. Because Princess Stéphanie and Daniel Ducruet ended up getting married, both Louis and Pauline are in the line of succession for the throne of Monaco (they occupy the 15th and 16th place respectively); however, Camille Gottlieb is not, since her parents were never married.

Louis and Marie met during their first year at Skema Business School, in France, where Marie obtained her degree in Marketing and luxury hospitality.

This baby will be Princess Stephanie’s first grandchild, and will join the ever-growing number of young members of Prince Albert’s family; Princess Caroline is already a grandmother to 7, including 6 grandsons (Alexandre and Maximilian from Andrea, Raphaël and Balthazar from Charlotte and Stefano and Francesco from Pierre) and one granddaughter (India from Andrea).
