How the Luxembourg royals celebrate Christmas

The Luxembourgish royals are more private about how they celebrate the Christmas holidays. With a new family member due to be born in April 2023, the family is sure to have lots to celebrate this holiday season.

On Christmas Eve each year, Grand Duke Henri’s speech is aired to the public, where he talks about the previous year and looks ahead to the upcoming year.

Like any family, they exchange gifts with one another and enjoy time relaxing with their family. They reportedly spend the season at their chalet in Switzerland, where they may attend a traditional Christmas Eve Mass.

Of course, there has to be a balance with families during the holidays. Back in 2017, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie revealed that she and Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume were going to be spending that Christmas with her family in Belgium. It would be natural, of course, for Prince Félix, Princess Claire and their two children (Princess Amalia and Prince Liam) to spend some Christmases with Claire’s family in Germany, as well.

The Grand Ducal Court will, sometimes, release a new family photo at the end of the year as a way to wish the Luxembourgish people well as the new year begins.
