Funeral details revealed for Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Luxembourg

The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg has revealed the funeral plans for Princess Marie-Gabrielle.

The funeral for the aunt and godmother of Grand Duke Henri will take place on 18 February at 11 am at Ledreborg Castle near Copenhagen, Denmark, where her family resided.

Grand Duke Henri will attend the funeral.

Attendance of other members of the Grand Ducal Family was not mentioned in the press release.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle died at the age of 97 on 10 February.

She was the last surviving child of Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Felix. She had five siblings, including the late Grand Duke Jean, who died in 2019 at the age of 98.

She was born on 2 August 1925 in Berg Castle in Luxembourg.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle married Danish Count Knud Johan Ludvig of Holstein-Ledreborg in 1951; they had seven daughters together. One of their daughters, Countess Camilla, died in 2010.

The Princess had been a widow since her husband’s 2001 death.
