Greek Royal Family returns home for holiday

The Greek Royal Family is gathered in Greece. Over the past several weeks, several members of the Greek Royal Family have shared photos on social media of their visits to Athens and several Greek islands, among other places.

King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie currently live in Greece. The exiled King sold his Hampstead property in London in 2013 when he returned to Greece. King Constantine spent 46 years living in the Hampstead property with his wife and their children. However, this summer holiday, the family is united in their native homeland. Crown Prince Pavlos and his wife, Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, have been joined by all their children Prince Constantine-Alexios, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon, Prince Aristidis-Stavros and Princess Maria-Olympia. In addition, Prince Nikolaos, Princess Tatiana and Prince Philippos are currently on summer holidays in Greece.

Crown Prince Pavlos and his wife are currently living with their children in a large apartment on Madison Avenue in New York. Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal’s three eldest children, Maria-Olympia, 23, Konstantin-Alexios, 21, and Achileas Andreas, 19, have all moved away from home to go to school in the US.

On the occasion of his daughter’s 25th birthday, Crown Prince Pavlos shared a string of lovely photos on Sunday – including a sweet shot of the 25-year-old Princess Olympia along with her grandfather, King Constantine.

The first time the Greek Royal Family returned to Greece was for the burying of Queen Frederica in 1993, when they flew into Thessaloniki, boarded a friend’s yacht, and sailed down the Aegean to the wealthy Porto Heli area. Constantine later described the event as he was “followed all the way by navy vessels, as if we were an invading force.” Now, the formerly exiled monarch of Greece lives in Porto Heli, a small seaside town. This is where the rest of the family is now on holiday. King Constantine financed the purchase of the house by selling his London properties.
