Queen Margrethe gets pleasant surprise at jubilee event

Queen Margrethe of Denmark had a pleasant surprise at the presentation of the Armed Forces’ gift for her jubilee.

The Danish Armed Forces gave the Danish Queen their gift in the waters off Korsør and at the naval station at Korsør.

An aircraft and naval parade took place to mark Queen Margrethe’s 50 years on the throne. The Queen watched the air show, consisting of an F-16 aircraft flyover, from the royal yacht – the Dannebrog – before going ashore for the parade.

It was during the parade that the Queen had a surprise that had her smiling from ear to ear. Speeches were given, and special music was played; however, when Queen Margrethe looked closer at the military men marching before her, she saw her two sons, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim.

The smiling brothers then took seats on each side of their mother for the continuation of the parade.

Queen Margrethe concluded the event with a short speech where she thanked the Armed Forces for their efforts in protecting Denmark during the time she has been monarch.

The Queen later had lunch with her two sons on the frigate Peter Willemoes.
