King Frederik and Queen Mary had a busy final day of their summer cruise on Thursday when they spent the day in Vejle Municipality. They were welcomed by waving crowds, complete with Danish flags, throughout the day.
The King and Queen began their day at the town hall where they were officially welcomed.
Frederik and Mary then visited Kong Gauer’s Gård. It is a care home that also has a fully integrated daycare, and the couple were able to see all of the ways that the children there during the day are able to spend time with the care home residents including reading together and some creative hairstyling.
In the afternoon, Their Majesties visited Fjordenhus, an iconic building in Vejle, for a lunch. Danish architect Olafur Eliasson created the unique building set on the harbour; the design is meant to bridge the land and water. It first opened in 2018 and is over 9,000 square feet.
In the evening, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted another reception aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
The Danish royal couple shared their thoughts in an Instagram post, ”Nature, architecture and community across generations have been the red thread today during the Royal couple’s visit to Vejle Municipality.”
