The Danish Royal House has announced details for Princess Isabella’s confirmation into the Church of Denmark.
The second child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be confirmed in Fredensborg Palace Church on 30 April.
The ceremony will take place at noon and be officiated by royal Chaplain-in-Ordinary, Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen.
There will be a private celebration for friends and family after the confirmation ceremony.
Further details are expected to be announced in due course.
Fredensborg Palace Church hosts many royal confirmations, including that of her older brother, Prince Christian, in 2021 and her father, Crown Prince Frederik, in 1981.
Princess Isabella was christened in the church in 2007. Her godparents are Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark (her father’s first cousin), Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, Nadine Johnston, Christian Buchwald, Peter Heering and Marie Louise Skeel.
Guests for the confirmation have not been announced, but it is thought Isabella’s godparents will attend as long as health regulations allow.
At Prince Christian’s confirmation last year, travel restrictions prevented the majority of his godparents from making the trip to Denmark to mark the occasion.
Princess Isabella’s confirmation adds to the celebrations for the Royal Family in Demark this year. Her grandmother, Queen Margrethe, marked her 50th year on the throne, and her mother, Crown Princess Mary, celebrated her 50th birthday. Both events were due to be celebrated widely in Denmark, but an uptick in COVID cases led to the postponement of many celebrations.
Princess Isabella was born on 21 April 2007 in the Copenhagen University Hospital. She is third in the line of succession to the Danish throne behind her father and older brother.
