Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant, is to star on a stamp marking her 18th birthday. The future Queen of Belgium will celebrate her birthday on 25 October.
The new stamp will be released on 21 October – four days ahead of her reaching the age of majority. What the stamp will look like remains a mystery as only a blurred image of the stamped has been released. It appears to be a photo of the Princess from the shoulders up in a pink/purple outfit.
We do know that the top of the stamp says, “Princess of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant” in both Dutch and French with “Elisabeth 18” in between. Some believe the photo is from the 2017 National Day.
The stamp will be released by Belgium Post (Bpost) next month.
Princess Elisabeth was on a stamp when she was a baby in 2002 on the occasion of her first birthday, and three years ago, she was on stamps alongside the Belgian Royal Family.
Princess Elisabeth was born on 25 October 2001 in Brussels to the then Duke and Duchess of Brabant (now King Philippe and Queen Mathilde). She has three younger siblings: Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess ElĆ©onore. She became the heir to the throne upon her grandfather, King Albert’s abdication in favour of her father in 2013, and with it, she inherited the title the Duchess of Brabant.
