The former Belgian monarch, Albert II, and his wife, Paola, have been photographed waiting in line as they received their coronavirus jabs in Brussels.
Embed from Getty ImagesAlbert, 86, and Paola, 83, were given the injections at the Heysel vaccination centre near their home at Belvedere Castle. As both are over the age of 80, they are in a priority group for the jabs.
Embed from Getty ImagesThe couple were photographed waiting their turn to check in for their jabs while Queen Paola was also seen using the hand sanitiser stations. Both she and King Albert were followed by photographers as they sat down to receive their injections which were administered on the day that European leaders announced they had no safety concerns over the AstraZeneca jab.
Embed from Getty ImagesAlbert and Paola are the latest European royals to get the coronavirus vaccination. Earlier this week, Queen Sofia of Spain, 82, got her jab at a centre in Madrid while The Duchess of Cornwall spoke out just days ago about her relief at getting her vaccination.
Albert ruled Belgium from 1993 until 2013 when he abdicated in favour of his eldest child, Philippe.
