Queen Camilla has continued a long standing tradition of the House of Windsor to make a poignant tribute in the hours after her Coronation.
Her Majesty has sent her Coronation Bouquet to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey where it has been placed in memory of all those who have lost their lives for their country.
The moving gesture comes almost exactly a century to the day since the tradition of laying important flowers on the Tomb began.
On April 26th 1923, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon laid her bouquet on the Tomb as she married the second son of King George V at the Abbey, to remember those killed in World War One, among them her beloved brother, Fergus. Since then, all royal brides have sent their flowers to the Tomb.
Queen Camilla requested that her Coronation bouquet, which echoed the spring flowers specially placed on the Tomb for the service on May 6th, be placed on the grave.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6th 2023.
