King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck has toured his kingdom alongside his father, the former monarch, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
The father and son toured different parts of Bhutan to encourage the people and motivate them as the pandemic continues.
The reigning King travelled from Samdrup Jongkhar to Jomotshangkha on 1 October where he will be staying to visit with the people. He has been joined by the Prime Minister, Chairperson of the National Council and his younger brother, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (also known as the Gyaltshab). His Majesty spoke to frontline workers as well as COVID-19 task force members and students.
The King’s father, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, visited Tsirang and Gelephu and was joined by his second son, Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck. He also spoke to frontline workers and express his appreciation for the work they are doing in the pandemic.

During his tour of Gelephu, he visited the town and hospital where he met with patients. He also spent time at the Gyalsung Training Centre site. His time in Tsirang also consisted of tours of the town and hospital.
The former monarch later granted audiences to DeSuups, armed forces personnel, COVID-19 task force, and students of Gelephu High School earlier in the week.
The Royal Office for Media said: “His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo are both deeply concerned about the impact of COVID-19 on the people, especially those at high-risk areas.”
