The Crown Princess participated in the forum on the 4th and 5th of April; she was received by the OECD Secretary General Angel GurrÃa and Denmark’s Ambassador to OECD Klavs A. Holm on Thursday upon her arrival. She then went in to sign the OECD guestbook.
The forum this year focuses on “Empowerment of Women and Youth” with politicians, members of the business world and other well-known figures are in attendance. Discussions included challenges women and youth face, as well as solutions focused on their empowerment.
Crown Princess Mary also attended a meeting with the Secretary General prior to the official opening of the forum where she delivered the keynote speech.
Additionally, Her Royal Highness was a participant in the “OECD Global Forum Session 1 – The Economic Empowerment of Youth and Women in Developing Countries: What Are the Right Policy Levers?” which took place later that day.Â
Other speakers during the two-day forum included Sharan Burrow, General Secretary, International Trade Union Confederation; Lila Caballero-Sosa, Policy Advisor – ActionAid UK; Diane Coyle, Professor of Economics, University of Manchester and Director – Enlightenment Economics; and Anabel González, World Bank.

According to the OECD, their mission is “to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.”
They provide a forum where “governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems.” The OECD then works with the governments to “understand what drives economic, social and environmental change.”
