Three royal sisters have got together for their traditional summer meet up and it couldn’t have looked more idyllic.
Queen Margrethe, who ruled Denmark until her abdication in January 2024, welcomed her younger siblings to Graasten castle where the three usually spend the sunshine days together.
It’s a very royal gathering all round. Margrethe’s sisters are Anne-Marie, the last Queen of Greece, and Princess Benedikte.
All three are the daughters of King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark and their parents were very much on the sisters’ minds as they began their summer break at Graasten. The castle was given to Frederik and Ingrid as a wedding present in 1935.

The sisters are very close and get together as often as they can. In the last years of the reign of Queen Margrethe, 85, she was accompanied on some royal engagements by Benedikte, 81.
Anne-Marie,78, has spent plenty of time with her siblings since she was widowed. Her husband, King Constantine, died in January 2023.
The summer break means that Queen Margrethe’s teenage grandson has an extra responsibility. Crown Prince Christian, 19, is currently regent in Denmark as his parents, King Frederik X and Queen Mary, are also on holiday in an undisclosed location.
The Danish royals shared some idyllic photos of Margrethe, Benedikte and Anne-Marie enjoying the gardens at Graasten with swans dabbling in the pretty lakes in the grounds.
