King Harald returns home after hospital treatment

King Harald has been discharged from hospital after a three day stay.

The King of Norway was treated for an infection at the Rikshospitalet in Oslo.

The 85 year old was admitted on December 19th 2022 and put on intravenous antibiotics. He went home on December 21s 2022 and will continue to rest ahead of the Christmas break.

In a short statement confirming his release from hospital care, the Norwegian Royal Court said ”the King is recovering but will take it easy for a few days.”

During his hospital stay, it was confirmed that different options for the royal festive message were being considered – King Harald usually broadcasts his greeting on New Year’s Eve.

The latest hospital stay comes a few months after the King was admitted to the Rikshospitalet after developing a fever. He soon recovered from that period of ill health and was back performing his royal duties within weeks.
