Camilla puts her pups in pearls for her magazine debut

The Duchess of Cornwall has chosen some rather unusual photo stars for her stint as editor of a magazine – her two dogs.

And Bluebell and Beth are dressed up for the occasion. For their appearance on the famous frontspiece of Country Life, known as the girls in pearls page, the two pups are wearing their owner’s jewels..

The dogs each wear a strand of royal pearls for the photo which is the first time that pets have starred on the frontspiece without their owners.

Country Life magazine

Camilla has guest edited the magazine to mark her 75th birthday. It’s also the 125th year of Country Life and the commemorative edition, which will have a gold embossed cover featuring a photo of the Duchess of Cornwall taken by the Duchess of Cambridge, focuses on many of the issues it has highlighted through its history.

The Duchess has chosen to include articles on farming, fishing and rural producers. In her introduction, Camilla says ”I have cherished this opportunity to highlight some of the people, communities and charities whom I have had the privilege to encounter and who do such a great deal for life in our countryside, too often unseen and unsung.”

There are also investigations into domestic violence in country areas and a focus on inner city deprivation. The Duchess also tackles the issue of a rise in rural crime, writing ”I know that physical isolation is often used to advantage by perpetrators and that victims in rural areas find it harder to reach out to seek help, especially in close knit communities.”

The guest editor has also included some big name interviews, including TV star Paul O’Grady.

Camilla’s edition of Country Life magazine goes on sale in the UK on July 13th 2022, her 75th birthday.
