The Queen has welcomed the President of Switzerland to Windsor Castle as she resumed her official duties following a break for Easter and a stay at Sandringham.
Her Majesty greeted Ignazio Cassis and his wife, Paola, as they arrived for an audience as part of their visit to the UK.
Walking without a stick, and looking relaxed and happy, The Queen chatted with her guests and posed for photographs as their meeting in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle got under way.
The meeting came just hours after Her Majesty returned to Windsor from Sandringham. She spent her birthday at the Norfolk estate, staying at Wood Farm, where Prince Philip lived following his retirement from public life in 2017.
Ignazio Cassis later said it was a ”great honour” to meet The Queen, adding it ”symbolises the close and long-standing ties” between their two countries. And he added ”My best wishes for the Platinum Jubilee year!”
The Swiss President also met UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, during his visit to London.
