Wimbledon fashion through the years: Diana, Princess of Wales

An avid sports fan, Diana, Princess of Wales, was seen courtside on Wimbledon frequently throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Her appearances were perhaps as memorable as some of the matches she watched. She was seen with Sarah, Duchess of York, multiple times, and she cheered on players with a pre-teen Prince William.

With the 2022 championships here, Royal Central is looking at the late Princess’s courtside fashion.

Just weeks before she married the Prince of Wales, then-Lady Diana Spencer was seen at the 1981 Wimbledon Championships alongside Prince Albert of Monaco. A few days later, she would be seen on another day of the championships with the Duchess of Gloucester and her sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.
