The Duchess of Cornwall on flowers: “Truly nature’s healers”

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

The Duchess of Cornwall recorded a message for her patronage, Flowers from the Farm, for its tenth anniversary.

Camilla said: “I’m delighted to be with you all today, albeit in a virtual form, to wish Flowers from the Farm a very happy tenth birthday.

“For a decade, your wonderful volunteers have encouraged more people to buy locally cut flowers, have taught others to start growing flowers from the market, and have fostered vital connections between growers in the United Kingdom.

“I understand the theme of your conference today is the extremely-apt celebration and inspiration. Over the past challenging year, there have been few things that have had the power to cheer us up as much as our need for flowers. Even when we are unable to meet, we can still send flowers and, in doing so, celebrate those we love.

“And though we are unable to enjoy many of the arts, we could all be inspired by this country’s glorious flowers and try our hands at creating our own arrangements. Happily, one of my favourite hobbies.

“Flowers, as you all know, truly are nature’s healers. Their myriad scents and colours cannot help but lift the spirits. Your hard work and generosity have brought nature into our homes, brightening our rooms and enhancing our lives.

“I do hope you will take this opportunity to reflect on the joy you have brought to so many people, and to look forward to the next ten years of bringing the wealth and variety of British flowers to us. Happy birthday!”

Flowers from the Farm is a membership organisation that encourages a love of flowers and gardening, and promoting the industry for markets. In the last six years, its members have won 38 medals at various flower shows around the United Kingdom.

“We are deeply honoured and grateful for the support of The Duchess of Cornwall on the 10th anniversary of Flowers from the Farm,” said Justine Scouller, Co-Chair of Flowers from the Farm in a statement shared on YouTube.

“Our association brings together artisan growers in a spirit of friendship and collaboration to nurture and promote beautiful, garden-style, sustainably-grown flowers. Over the past year in particular, public support for local flower farms has been incredible, and our hope is that it will continue into the season to come.”
