The Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg attended a traditional Mass to celebrate deceased members of the Grand Ducal Family at Luxembourg City’s Notre Dame Cathedral on Saturday morning.
Grand Duke Henri attended alongside his younger brother, Prince Guillaume, as well as Prince Félix and Princess Claire with their two children: Princess Amalia (5) and Prince Liam (2). Amalia and Liam’s attendance was a surprise as the Grand Ducal Court did not announce plans for them to attend ahead of time. Prince Louis also attended with his father, uncle, brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was unable to attend after undergoing knee surgery last month. Her Royal Highness is still in recovery but is said to be doing well.
The Mass takes place each year in memory of those members of the Grand Ducal Family who have died. This was the first time the religious service took place since the death of Grand Duke Henri’s beloved late father, Grand Duke Jean, who died in April of this year.

The Grand Ducal Court confirmed to Royal Central that there were no special portions of the 70-minute service specifically dedicated to the late Grand Duke.
Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed to the cathedral’s Ducal Crypt by the Archbishop of Luxembourg, His Eminence Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich. After the Pontifical Mass, a procession to the vault and a blessing of the tombs took place.
