The Duke of Sussex is in Amsterdam this morning to launch a new eco-tourism project between Booking.com, SkyScanner, CTrip, TripAdvisor and Visa and the new Sussex Royal Foundation. The new initiative will help transform to travel industry to better project tourist destinations and the communities that depend on them. The event comes after a summer full of criticism for the Sussexes’ private jet use. He reportedly flew out last night or early this morning on a commercial flight.
Embed from Getty ImagesEmbed from Getty Images The event took place at the A’dam Tower and the Duke of Sussex also gave a speech and hosted a panel discussion between Gillian Tans, Chairwoman of Booking.com, Bryan Dove, CEO of Skyscanner, Jane Sun, CEO of Ctrip, Kanika Soni, President, Hotels, at TripAdvisor, and Suzan Kereere, Global Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring for VISA. Announcing the project, the Duke of Sussex said, “I am proud to announce…Travalyst. Travalyst is a first-of-its-kind coalition, a united front of businesses dedicated to making travel an engine for sustainability.
The founding partners, who are represented here today, include some of the leaders and heavy hitters of the global travel industry— Booking.com, Ctrip, Skyscanner, TripAdvisor and VISA. These are organisations that can really make waves, and the tide is changing. Surfs up!”
The Duke of Sussex, alongside the Duchess of Sussex, will also highlight eco-tourism during their tour to Africa later this month. They will tour Cape Town and Johannesburg together and the Duke of Sussex will also travel alone to Botswana, Angola and Malawi.
