The Duke of Sussex has revealed that the royal baby was “a bit overdue” when he was born early this morning. He also revealed we should get a name announcement in the near future as they’ve had time to think it over.
This morning, His Royal Highness said, “It’s been overdue, so we have had a little bit of time to think about names, so that’s the next bit. I haven’t been at many births. This is my first birth. It was amazing and absolutely incredible. I’m incredibly proud of my wife.”
Of course, Harry’s statement is confirmation of what had been widely suspected for the past several days. The media and royal watchers have been on high alert for days with rumours that the Duchess of Sussex’s due date was at the end of April.
The Duchess revealed earlier this year that her baby was due in late April or early May, but no specific due date was ever released.
Prince Harry spoke to the media after the birth of his son in Windsor, revealing his time of delivery and other details. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had announced their son’s arrival on Instagram just a few moments prior.
The Earl of Dumbarton, as the new royal baby will be styled, was born early this morning at 5.26 am. The location of the birth is unknown, but it is suspected the baby was born at the couple’s home of Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The Earl weighs 7lbs. 3oz and more details will be shared in the coming days. There will be a photo call with the new family of three in the next couple of days where the Duke and Duchess will show off their new bundle of joy to the world.
