Prince Harry and his fiancée, Meghan Markle, will both live together at Nottingham Cottage located on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Nottingham Cottage is a small royal residence that was previously home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they first married in 2011.
Harry and Meghan will just live a few steps away from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace. Once they get married, it is likely they will relocate to another residence.
Though it will provide much-needed privacy for the couple, Nottingham Cottage is barely a pied-à-terre with its two bedrooms, kitchen, two small reception areas and front garden. Devoid of air conditioning, Prince William was said to have to stoop due to the low ceilings when he lived there.
Nottingham Cottage was once the home of Lady Jane Fellowes, sister of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was married to Lord Fellowes, the Queen’s former private secretary. At the time, a young Nanny Diana used to visit her sister with her young charge, Patrick Robertson, whose American family had a flat in London.
It was also formerly the home of Prince Philip’s private secretary, Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis, and his wife Gay.
Most of Kensington Palace is now made up of offices for staff. The remaining areas consist of royal apartments for the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and others.
The royal wedding will take place in Spring 2018 Clarence House has confirmed.
Although details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding are yet to be announced, the wedding bells will ring in the first half of next year.
An exact date and venue has yet to be announced. Some possible venues include Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral.
The buildup to the wedding has now begun and will continue for many months.
The timing will likely mean that it will occur close to the Duchess of Cambridge’s due date as she expects her and Prince William’s third child.
