Details of the Dutch King & Queen’s State Visit to the UK revealed

Buckingham Palace has released further details about the upcoming State Visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands when they visit the United Kingdom next month.

It has been confirmed that Their Majesties will pay a State Visit as the guests of Queen Elizabeth II from 23rd October to 24th October 2018. The King & Queen will stay at Buckingham Palace for the duration of their stay.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will greet Their Majesties on behalf of The Queen at the Dutch Ambassador’s Residence on the morning of Tuesday 23rd.

The four will then travel to Horse Guards Parade, where Willem-Alexander and Maxima will receive a Ceremonial Welcome.

The Queen will formally welcome Their Majesties on Horse Guards Parad where presentations will be made and the Dutch National Anthem will be played.

The King and Prince Charles will then inspect the Guard of Honour, formed of the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards.

Afterwards, The King & Queen will take part in a State Carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace.

At the palace, The Queen will host a private lunch for the royals and give them a tour of a special exhibition in the Picture Gallery, made up of items from the Royal Collection relating to the Netherlands.

Later in the day, The King and Queen will visit Westminster Abbey. Here, they will lay a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior as prayers are said by the Dean.

Straight after, Their Majesties will visit the Palace of Westminster where The King will deliver an address in the Royal Gallery to Parliamentarians and other guests.

In the afternoon The King and The Queen will have tea with Charles & Camilla at Clarence House.

The Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, will then meet the couple at Buckingham Palace.

In the evening, The Queen will give a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace for her Dutch guests.

The following day, Their Majesties will attend a breakfast given by the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation at Mansion House, alongside the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Their Majesties will then travel to HMS Belfast with the Duke of Kent, where the Dutch vessel HNLMS ZEELAND, currently in the UK for training purposes, will be moored alongside.

The King and Queen will then travel to a London community project Pop Brixton. Housed in shipping containers, Pop Brixton has converted disused land in the area into a creative space for local, independent businesses and social enterprises.

Finally, The King and Queen will visit No. 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister Theresa May.

Their Majesties will formally bid farewell to The Queen at Buckingham Palace in the afternoon and fly back to The Netherlands.
