The Duke & Duchess of York enjoy a horseride together in Windsor ahead of Eugenie’s wedding

The Duke of York and his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, were spotted riding together on horseback this week as Princess Eugenie’s upcoming wedding gets ever closer.

As reported in the Sunday Express, Andrew and Sarah enjoyed a canter together in the grounds of Windsor Castle alongside their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice.

The York Family seemed in good spirits as they prepare for Eugenie’s marriage to Jack Brooksbank which takes place in just a few days time.

Andrew and Sarah have been instrumental in preparing for their daughter’s wedding. Many details will remain secret until the big day, although the Duke has successfully convinced ITV to air the ceremony live after a BBC snub.

The Duke of York looked like a natural as he rode his mount, but in actual fact, the 58-year-old only learnt how to ride less than a year ago.

Prince Andrew had been undergoing riding lessons ahead of this year’s Trooping the Colour held in June where he rode on horseback behind The Queen’s carriage alongside Prince Charles, Prince William and Princess Anne.

The seventh-in-line to the throne appears to be the only one of Her Majesty’s children who did not inherit a passion for horses, but he finally took to the saddle during Trooping on a horse called Elizabeth – Princess Anne’s former mount.

The Duke was inspired to take riding lessons after being appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards following the Duke of Edinburgh’s retirement last year.

Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson 32 years ago at Westminster Abbey in London.

They have two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, born 8 August 1988 and 23 March 1990 respectively. They are currently eighth and ninth in line to the throne.

The Duke and Duchess separated in 1992, amidst long periods of separation caused by his military career and media attention towards the Duchess, and divorced in 1996.

However, the couple committed to raising their daughters together and have maintained a healthy relationship post-divorce. They are often dubbed by the media as the world’s happiest divorced couple and still live and holiday together.
