Princess Beatrice makes her first official appearance alongside new boyfriend at National Portrait Gallery

Princess Beatrice attended a fundraiser at the National Portrait Gallery on Tuesday evening alongside her new boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Beatrice’s engagement at the gallery marks her first public appearance alongside her new partner.

Her Royal Highness was attending the Portrait Gala alongside many famous faces, including the Beckham family and, of course, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Duchess is Patron of the National Portrait Gallery. Whilst there, she met members of the Gallery’s Youth Forum and viewed artwork produced by some of the gallery’s outreach programmes.

This was the third time Catherine visited the Gala, an occasion which raises funds to support the National Portrait Gallery’s The Duchess of Cambridge has been Patron of the National Portrait Gallery since 2012, and this will be the third Gala she has attended.

As in previous years, funds raised during the course of the evening’s events will go directly towards supporting the National Portrait Gallery’s work in offering unique learning opportunities and to facilitate the continued delivery of inspirational exhibitions and displays. It will also help the Gallery to continue to undertake world-class research.

This year, the Portrait Gala is supporting Inspiring People: Transforming our National Portrait Gallery, a project for the complete renewal of the Gallery that will see a significant refurbishment of the building.

Not only will Inspiring People undertake major work at St Martin’s Place, they will also engage audiences across the country whether that be onsite, locally, regionally and online.

As part of this programme, the Gallery will work with museums in Cornwall, Coventry, Sheffield and Southampton on the Creative Connections project; a co-curated exhibition programme for young people. This will result in students creating new artworks alongside artists and a display of portraits from the Gallery’s Collection at each venue.
