The Yorks

Prince Andrew to talk on TV about his links to Jeffrey Epstein

Prince Andrew, Duke of York

The Duke of York will appear on TV to answer questions about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew has given an exclusive interview to BBC Newsnight. It will go out in the UK on Saturday evening.

The Duke of York talks to Emily Maitlis about his connections to Jeffrey Epstein in a programme called ”Prince Andrew and the Epstein Scandal: The Newsnight Interview”.

The prince’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein has once more been under scrutiny since the summer when the former financier was found dead in his prison cell awaiting trial on allegations of sex trafficking. A coroner later ruled he had taken his own life.

Soon afterwards, the Duke of York issued a statement to clarify his links to Epstein who had been convicted in 2010 of soliciting a minor for prostitution. In the statement, Prince Andrew said he said he had sympathy for those affected by Epstein’s behaviour and added ”at no stage during the limited time I spent with him did I see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction.” He added that it was a ”mistake” to meet Epstein following his release from prison for the 2010 conviction.

The programme will go out on BBC Two on Saturday, November 16th 2019 at 9pm.
