Will Meghan Markle have to undergo training to marry Harry?

Marriage is not something to be taken lightly, even more so when you are marrying into one of the world’s oldest and most looked up to institutions.

When (or if) Meghan Markle marries Prince Harry, she will not only have to navigate the waters of being a newlywed, she will have a to-do list longer than your arms spread out of lessons and training to become royalty.

It is suspected that upon Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan, or any other lucky lady, they will be granted the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Harry is well rehearsed in the proper proceedings but what will Meghan have to learn?

When Catherine married Prince William in 2011, The Telegraph reported how the Duchess of Cambridge was to be given one-on-one lessons to “ensure she has a thorough knowledge of the Establishment.”

A source told The Telegraph that “The Duchess is being briefed on how the State works, getting to know our national institutions better and learning more about organisations such as the arts, the media and the government.

“It is a process that will carry on for several months but is being done privately.

“As well as meetings at St James’s Palace, the Duchess is spending time carrying out private research of her own.”

There is no doubt that with Meghan in another high-profile role she would also be taught similar, if not the same, lessons. Maybe Kate will share her notes?

Miss Markle is familiar with being in the spotlight as an actress, but being a royal brings an entirely new focus of energy on one’s self. Just as all other senior royals before her, Meghan will have to take SAS anti-kidnap training. Prince Harry was formerly in the British Army, so he will be prepared for what is to come, but for any commoner, the intense programme could come as a surprise.

The programme taught at the SAS base in Hereford is described as “very tough, physically and mentally” and teaches key survival skills.

“VIP kidnap protection training teaches how to cope both mentally and physically,” said a source.

“The mental element involves reacting to unusual situations, such as when there was a stranger in the Queen’s bedroom – and she just started talking to him.”

Catherine also took a lighter personal protection programme that is led by an MI5 officer or PPO.

On top of those lessons, Meghan will surely be given guidelines on how to act, address others and dress herself. Even once Kate married William, her mini-skirts showing off her mile long legs were given the ‘x’ by Her Majesty in favour for a more classic, less risque silhouette.

Despite the comparability between the two ladies, Meghan will have the hands up on Kate as she already lived a life in the public eye before she nabbed her man!
