The Prince and Princess of Wales get the Coronation party started with a pint at the pub

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a busy day of engagements on Thursday as they carried out some Coronation themes events ahead of the big day on Saturday.

The Prince and Princess started their day with a train journey on the Elizabeth Line – a tube line opened last year in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II for her Platinum Jubilee.

During their journey, Their Royal Highnesses spoke with Transport for London staff about how the company is preparing for the massive crowds expected in London for the Coronation weekend.

Catherine was asked about last-minute Coronation preparations and explained that it was busy.

She said: “Yes, it’s going to be a busy time. We’re getting there. I still feel like we’re trying to get ducks in a row.”

They departed the train at Tottenham Court Road to meet with more members of the public.

The late Queen Elizabeth II opened the Underground line named in her honour in May 2022, an unexpected public appearance – one of the final times we saw the late monarch at an event.

Later in the afternoon, William and Catherine headed to the Dog and Duck pub in Soho. The pub is part of the Nicholson’s group whose venues will be hosting Coronation events to celebrate the weekend. With so many people out celebrating the Coronation and taking advantage of the extra bank holiday, the hospitality industry will be exceptionally busy.

Their Royal Highnesses spoke with staff members about the extra surge in their traffic for the Coronation, before William smoothly pulled a royal pint called ‘Kingmaker’.
