As well as sending troops to London to take part in the Coronation Procession, many Commonwealth countries and Realms will hosting their own parades for the citizens of their countries to enjoy.
The first British overseas territory to do so was Gibraltar, who put on their own parade on Wednesday, 3rd May.
All branches of the Armed Forces took part in the event, marching to the beat of the music playing throughout the streets of the city.
The forces on duty for the occasion were made of both Gibraltar detachments of the British Armed Forces, and of members of Gibraltar’s Essential Services.
Crowds made up of both locals and tourists amassed in Covent Place to watch the soldiers parade.
A short clip of the event was posted on Twitter by the Government of Gibraltar, with a caption briefly explaining the event, before concluding with the traditional “God save the King”.
This will be far from the only tribute to the historic event taking place this weekend, and it is likely that the public in many other countries and territories tied to the monarchy will also get to experience something similar.
It is important to remember that King Charles III will not be crowned on Saturday merely as King of the United Kingdom, but as as “Charles the third, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of His other Realms and Territories King, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith”.
As a British Overseas Territory, Charles succeed his mother as monarch of Gibraltar, making Wednesday’s parade a very significant start of the city’s celebrations of its new Sovereign.
