Pregnant Kate joins Royal Family to celebrate Queen’s Birthday

The Duchess of Cambridge joined the Royal Family today to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

Mum-to-be Kate beamed with joy as she joined Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry in a carriage to attend today’s ceremony at London’s Whitehall. The ceremony is held every year to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday.

Kate glowed as she joined Royal Family today

As the carriage departed from Buckingham Palace Kate, Camilla and Harry were met by rapturous applause from the crowds. Thousands of well-wishers had gathered to catch a glimpse of the Royals.

Prince Andrew along with his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie quickly followed behind on a second carriage.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Prince Edward and their daughter Lady Louise also arrived by carriage. The Earl and Countess of Wessex attended today’s ceremony just seven days after visiting Sweden, for Princess Madeleine’s wedding.

The pregnant Duchess dazzled in a pale pink Alexander McQueen coat and a beautiful matching hat, one Kate had previously worn at a Buckingham Palace Garden party last year.

Kate, who is eight months pregnant, seemed extremely happy to be joining in today’s event, the parade will be the mum-to-be’s final engagement ahead of the birth of her first child with Prince William, which is due in Mid-July.

Joined by her family and the extended Royal Family, the Queen seemed to be enjoying the day’s ceremony as she was accompanied by the Duke of Kent in her carriage. Prince Philip is missing today’s birthday due to his recent operation.

The Queen waved to well-wishers as she made her way down the Mall, looking immaculate as usual. For this year’s occasion the 87-year-old monarch chose a royal blue Angela Kelly coat and a hat, with a matching lace dress.

It was a family affair for the Queen as Prince Charles, who is Colonel of the Welsh Guards took part in the ceremony, along with his sister the Princess Royal – who is Colonel of the Blues and Royals and son the Duke of Cambridge – who is Colonel of the Irish Guards.

The Ceremony consisted of more than 1,000 guards, horses and musicians who all took part in today’s Trooping the Colour’, to celebrate her majesty’s official birthday.

As the parade at Whitehall came to an end, the Royal Family made their way back down the Mall. Once again the Duchess of Cambridge lead the procession in her front carriage joined by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry.

The thousands of well-wishers cheered on the royals, with many applauding pregnant Kate.

As the Queen made her way back to the palace she was also met with cheers, reminiscent of last year’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Royal Family then made their way onto the Balcony of the Palace to wave to her majesty’s adoring nation. As a final celebration, a fly-over made it’s way over the London skyline to honour the Queen.

Pregnant Kate is now expected to take maternity leave ahead of her July birth date. Earlier this week, Kate attended her final solo engagement in Southampton.
